Now that Spring has finally arrived and Summer is quickly approaching, think about taking your dog with you when you dine outside. This is the perfect time to start practicing the Long Down, first in the distraction - free environment of your home, then your backyard, and later at a busy park. Gradually introduce food (your food, not the dog's!) into the mix. Invite friends and family over for a barbecue. Can your dog handle all the distraction? If he can, then you are ready to try public dining. I always like to begin in a place like Cup O Joes.
